Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Tragic Car Crash

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on the 29th of December, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The boxer had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.

“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.

Honoring the Deceased

Those who lost their lives were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two close friends.”

The news of his discharge follows the global fight fans offered sympathy for the champion in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
