Tributes Pour In for Rob and Michele Reiner as Medical Examiner's Findings Remain Under Wraps.
Over a fortnight following the shocking loss of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues are still paying respects to the duo.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he finally felt prepared to express about his personal sorrow.
"Adequate time has passed that I can finally put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, saying that his introductory moment with Reiner created an instant bond. "When we commenced sharing more moments together I understood this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor posted behind-the-scenes footage from the production, adding that he doesn't recollect "one day without laughter".
"The film is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Things that Rob cherished deeply. Which is among the many reasons he was the ideal person to direct it," Elwes continued.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, stating: "Asserting that they were a incredible duo would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I remember you." He ended with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Fellow Artist
In a distinct piece, revered director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the lead role.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked beautifully with everyone, and he understood the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Sealed
This week, a Los Angeles superior court judge agreed to block the release of the Reiners' autopsy reports, following a petition from the LAPD.
A legal directive put a embargo on the investigation to restrict the public release of "all case details, notes, reports or photos" associated with the probe.
The Medical Examiner's office had already determined their deaths were the result of murder, with a public database listing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Fallout and Commentary
Following the killings, public figures offered different reactions.
Former President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, making provocative claims that were met with immediate backlash by many public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his criticism to the critics recently. Speaking on his show, Rogan described the comments as "shocking" and suggested they revealed a concerning lack of empathy.
Rogan ended by suggesting that an adviser ought to have acted when the decision to weigh in on the passing was made.
