Two men have been charged in connection with a suitcase robbery where a suspected irritant spray caused injuries at the UK's busiest airport.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, now face two robbery charges and charges for using a harmful chemical, according to official statements.

The charges follow an probe of an assault at the parking structure at Heathrow's Terminal Three on the weekend. Prior to the attack, two female travelers had their luggage stolen after exiting a car park lift, authorities reported.

A toddler was one of the people hurt during the incident. Five people were taken to a medical facility and were later discharged.

The incident – which authorities stated was isolated and not being treated as terrorism – resulted in train delays and the partial closure of the main airport road tunnel and the T3 parking area for a short time.
